Pat Williams will sign a one-day contract with the Minnesota Vikings and subsequently announce retirement, the team announced Tuesday.

Williams played six seasons with the Vikings, after playing the previous seven seasons with the Buffalo Bills. During his time in Minnesota, he went  to the Pro Bowl three times (2006-08) and was a second-team All-Pro (2007).

After finding out that Minnesota was not bringing him back for the 2011 season, Williams said he intended to continue playing somewhere else. He did not latch on with another team since.
