Chuck Knoblauch To Be Inducuted To Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame

Former Minnesota Twin Chuck Knoblauch will be inducted to in the Twins Hall of Fame, the team announced Friday.

While many Minnesota fans have mixed memories of Knoblauch, who played second base during his time here, no one can argue that his on-field performance with the Twins was spectacular.

In seven years with Minnesota, he batted .304/.391/.416 and stole more bases, 276, than any other Twins player in history. He won Rookie of the Year in 1991 and went to four All-Star games. He also won the Gold Glove and the Silver Slugger in 1997 and another Silver Slugger in 1995.

Among players with at least 1,000 plate appearances, Knoblauch ranks third in Twins history with a .391 on-base percentage, second among second baseman, behind Rod Carew.

The Twins drafted Knoblauch in the first round of the 1989 MLB Draft, and he won a World Series with the team two years later.

But he fell out of favor with Twins fans when he publicly demanded to be traded. So Minnesota flipped him to the Yankees in 1998 for a healthy haul: Eric Milton, Danny Mota, Brian Buchanan and Christian Guzman.
