Cavaliers Win in a Night Full of Love and Hate

Before Saturday night’s matchup between the Timberwolves and Cavaliers, Kevin love was asked for his take on the team he happily left after six years of dismal basketball.

“I enjoyed a lot of the people that I played with and met off the floor here, but it’s a little bitter because I wish things could’ve gone better and been better,” he said. “I’m in a situation now where we’re winning basketball, and I’m happy with that. I think that’s only human nature to want things to always be sunshine and blue skies all week. But that’s just not the case. As long as we get a win I’ll feel great doing it.”

The long-awaited return of Kevin Love was just as expected: a lot of boos and a few cheers. But there’s no doubt it was electric. And if only just for once, it was nice to see at Target Center.

In front of a sell-out crowd of 19,562, Kevin Love did something he’s used to doing in Minneapolis. He finished with a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Aided by 36 points from Lebron James, Love also did something he isn’t used to doing in Minneapolis: win. But it’s something he’s been doing a lot lately, as the Cavaliers are on a 10-game winning streak and look like the team we thought they could turn into.

However, once the hate-fest for Kevin Love simmered down a bit due to a tribute video in the first quarter, the attention shifted to Andrew Wiggins. In two games against the team that traded him away, Wiggins has scored 60 total points.

It’s safe to say the 19-year-old has found his groove, as he has 21 straight games with at least 10 points. In 12 of those 21, he’s scored over 20.

At this point, it is what it is. The Cavaliers have found themselves a top-notch scorer and rebounder and it is all starting to come together. The Timberwolves have a much longer ways to go, but the ceiling of Andrew Wiggins is the highest we’ve seen for a Timberwolves player since Kevin Garnett.

Both teams are happy with the trade right now. The Timberwolves will be happier in the long run.

The Wolves (8-39) take the floor next on Monday night at 7:30 against the Mavericks (32-17) in Dallas.
