Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx Unveil New Practice Facility

Practice facilities are a big thing in the Minnesota basketball world. Between the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers not having one and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Mayo Clinic building one in downtown Minneapolis, we’ve heard a lot about (allegedly) drunk Allen Iverson’s favorite thing, practice.

The Timberwolves and the Lynx unveiled their shiny new practice facilities on Wednesday just hours after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. (The Timberwolves totally didn’t need Steph Curry, by the way… *sad trombone*)

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was in both places and said some very, very nice things about the new practice facility for the male and female wolf packs.

“Having just come from a championship, these are how championship organizations are built.”

I’ll just let that one linger. The one thing Silver did say that was a little more believable, “Frankly, I’ve never seen anything like this… This is truly the gold standard.”

The Wolves and Lynx should truly be applauded on how this new facility won’t just be for the professional athletes in town, but for all athletes of any shape, size, age or ability. Adding the Mayo Clinic facility on was a pretty great PR move and logical move, as well.

Glen Taylor also was quoted saying nice things about his new practice facility, ““Today will be a day that we will look back on years from now as a game-changer in our franchise history… I feel like we’re doing all the right things.”

Unlike drafting Jonny Flynn instead of Stephen Curry. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Much like the many jokes I could make off of this beautiful addition the Wolves decided they should have. Leave it to Randball to make us all aware of this:

(h/t to the Timerwolves official website for the quotes. As much as I make fun of the NBA franchise, I do actually really like you.)
