Tom Brady and Deflategate Hearing Won’t Be Heard In Minnesota

The NFL world has been centered around Minnesota a time or two with the whole Adrian Peterson saga and the Brett Favre saga(s) and the Loveboat and the Whizzinator and… okay, so, Minnesota has been the center of the NFL world before, but the state just missed out on one of the biggest stories in NFL history.

The Deflategate lawsuit will be held in New York instead of Minnesota. The New England Patriots’ Tom Brady and the NFL Players Association wanted the hearing to be held in Minnesota, but they filed after the NFL filed in New York. U.S. District Court Judge Richard Kyle ruled on Thursday that it makes no sense for the hearing to be held in Minnesota with Brady playing in Massachusetts and the league being headquartered in New York.

Brady is currently facing a four-game suspension for possibly knowing about footballs being deflated in last season’s playoffs in the Patriot’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, a game in which a Velcro football wouldn’t have helped the Colts if they were wearing Velcro gloves.

At the moment, Brady is allowed to participate in training camp and preseason games, but that would be the end of any practices with the team until the suspension was fully served.

The lead attorney for Brady and the Players Union gave a statement to the Associated Press, “”The court decided the case should be heard in New York because the NFL filed first there. We are happy in any federal court, which unlike the arbitration before Goodell provides a neutral forum, and will now seek our injunction in the New York court.”
