Minnesota Twins: The Exciting Return of Byron Buxton

facebooktwitterreddit

I’m going to ignore the sweep the Minnesota Twins felt from the hands of the New York Yankees and the fact that Aaron Hicks, one of the few keeping the boat somewhat afloat for the Twins, is now hurt and I’m going to focus solely on the positive.

The Twins won’t miss Glen Perkins because apparently a save situation will never come this team’s way ever again in 2015?

I kid. Kevin Jepsen will blow some while Perkins is out with injury.

The positive I’m looking at is the fact that Byron Buxton is coming back to the big leagues to play with the Twins. Buxton didn’t do well in his first stint with the big league squad earlier this season and this will give Buxton, Twins fans and Twins front office personnel to have a better taste in their mouth about Buxton’s MLB time going into next season.

Plus, Buxton looks to be really ready for it this round.

In 12 games in his rehab/reassignment to Triple-A Rochester, Buxton has hit .412/.444/.549 with four extra-bases hits in a grand total of 21. Buxton’s Rochester Red Wings OPS sits at .993. Comparatively, Buxton in 11 games in the first major league swing where Buxton hit .189/.231/.270 with two extra-base hits in a total of seven hits.

The future narrative has been written many times, but seeing Buxton, Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario on the same field together. Even more exciting is to see an outfield that has Buxton in center and Hicks in right, so Torii Hunter can quietly ride off into the sunset.

I’m excited. I could be negative, I was negative about a lot in this ‘positive’ piece, but I choose to be excited. Keep me that way, Byron.

Next: Nolasco is the worst!
