Minnesota Twins: Don’t worry, Byron Buxton will be fine

Take a deep breath, folks. Breathe in, breathe out. Rinse, lather and repeat. Byron Buxton will start hitting for the Minnesota Twins.

Throughout baseball Twitter, concern has been running rampant about Buxton. It’s true that his hitting is not up to major league snuff, but everything else is.

Buxton is only hitting .207/.233/.509 with an RBI and three extra-base hits in 15 games, but there is no need to freak out about this. The bat, for most, is the last thing to be major league ready. That’s the case for Buxton.

Look at everything else that Buxton brings to the table and he’s good to go. His defense is solid. His arm is something to write home about. Not to mention, unless you are Usain Bolt, Buxton is more than likely faster than you. On the 40th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born to Run’ record it is safe to say that that is exactly what Buxton was made to do.

I don’t think some would be so concerned about Buxton if it wasn’t for the absolute rock star success that fellow rookie Miguel Sano has experience so far.

Sano is one of the few that has the bat ready before anything else. Hitting is Sano’s main calling card and we see that with him going .288/.397/.582 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in only 44 games. He’s a beast.

Sano and Buxton are two totally different players and we shouldn’t be comparing the two. Both will be great and huge parts of the Twins’ return to success, it just might take longer for one to shine.

Next: Oh, Ricky, you're not fine...
