Good news for Jarius Wright fans, the Minnesota Vikings have signed the wide receiver to a contract extension that multiple media reports state is for four years and $14 million. The number that really matters is that reportedly $7 million of that is guaranteed.

The contract comes just before Wright was to enter his last season on his rookie deal. This is Wright’s fourth season with the Vikings after being selected in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the team.

Wright posted career highs in starts (7), receptions (42) and receiving yards (588) last season.

General Manager Rick Spielman released a statement about the contract extension and Wright:

More from Minnesota Vikings

"“Jarius has been a key member of our offense since we drafted him in 2012 and we felt it was necessary to secure his future with our organization. His commitment to this team, hard work and leadership in the WR room are several of the intangibles that he brings to our club on a daily basis and we’re excited for his future with the Vikings. With the help of WR coach George Stewart, Jarius has greatly improved since coming to Minnesota. This extension stays true to our philosophy of drafting young talent, developing them in our system and rewarding their success.”"

Wright looks to be slotted in as the Vikings slot receiver this season. Wright will be paired with Mike Wallace, Charles Johnson and Kyle Rudolph mainly in the receiving game. The Vikings also have Cordarrelle Patterson, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen ready to go  at receiver.

The Vikings website has some behind-the-scenes video of Wright signing the deal on Thursday morning.
