Minnesota Twins: There’s a (playoff) magic around this Twins team

The Minnesota Twins could actually do this. I’ve thought before the season that the Twins would be better this season and maybe be around .500, but they might actually sneak into the playoffs and get one of those Wild Card spots. It’s really possible.

I still can’t believe it. It took me until Monday night sitting at the game at Target Field for this to really hit me. In the top of the first, it looked like Tyler Duffey wanted to give the Detroit Tigers a million runs, but he got out of the inning not allowing a run. Plus, the Twins gave him four runs in the bottom of the inning and then he struck out the side in the second.

There’s magic or something in the halls of Target Field. Maybe the demons that have emerged from the ancient burial ground that Target Center and Target Field were seemed to be built upon have gone to some other location and found a new place to dwell.

It’s come to the point where if this team was to implode, it should have happened a couple weeks ago. Torii Hunter was horrible and now all of a sudden he’s found the fountain of youth. Trevor Plouffe got out of his slump and is playing out of his mind. Miguel Sano is limited to being a turtle on the bases and he’s still doing things. Hell, Joe Mauer is having a nice little stretch. All of this while All-Star Glen Perkins has been out with injury.

This has been a fun summer of baseball and it might go beyond the regularly scheduled 162. In this instance, I don’t have any mathematical equation or insider knowledge as to why I think the Twins might just do this. It’s just a feeling.

This team makes me want to get up and dance and I’m not a good dancer. If I was the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros, I’d be very, very scared, because one of those AL West teams isn’t going to be in the playoffs.

Next: Gardy to Detroit?
