Brett Favre is going into the Hall of Fame. It might not be official yet, but Favre was one of a handful of players that were announced as Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees on Wednesday.

The other first-year-eligible nominees include wide receiver Terrell Owens, safety Lawyer Milloy; running backs Brian Westbrook and Clinton Portis; place-kicker John Carney; and linebackers Keith Bulluck and Mike Vrabel according to the Associated Press. These make up some of the 108 modern-day nominees for the Hall of Fame.

The seniors committee has already nominated Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel.

The Hall’s bylaws state that between four and eight people will be enshrined each voting year.

It would be a pretty big shock if Favre does not make the Hall in his first time on the ballot. Favre retired leading the NFL in about every QB category that one can lead. Plus, Favre’s enthusiasm won him fans all over the country not just in his famed base of Green Bay.

Favre also will be remembered for his retiring and unretiring and his use of a cellphone in his one year in New York. He’ll be remembered in Minnesota for a two-year stint with the Vikings and having, arguably, the best season of his career in year one of that stint.

At the age of 40, Favre threw for 33 touchdowns and a career low seven interceptions. Favre that season lead the league in INT% at 1.3. His quarterback rating was an astounding 107.2. The only season Favre had over the 100 mark.

We won’t talk about year two.

Favre was one of the greatest QBs of all-time and he is one of the main reasons that the NFL is the behemoth that it is today. Favre was fun to watch and it’ll be fun to watch him be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
