Things got a little wild and crazy in St. Paul the night before Halloween, but the Minnesota Wild still came out victorious over the division rival Chicago Blackhawks, 5-4.

If you tuned in late to the game, you probably missed a goal. Just a mere 18 seconds into the game Jason Zucker put in his second goal of the season. Less than four minutes later, Jonathan Toews scored a shorthanded goal for the Blackhawks to tie it up. Six minutes later, Chicago was on a power play and Brent Seabrook scored to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead, but that was their only lead of the game. Ryan Cater tied it up for the Wild with a little over five minutes left in the first period and Charlie Coyle sent in his fourth goal of the year with 11 second left of the period to give the Wild a 3-2 lead going into the first intermission.

Three minutes into the second act, Jared Spurgeon connected on his first of the year on a power play to give the Wild the dreaded two-goal lead. Toews scored again and Artem Anisimov added one himself to tie it up before the second break.

There wasn’t much scoring in the third period. One goal and it was 32 seconds into the period, but it was a big one. Nino Niederreiter put in his fourth goal of the season to give the Wild the deciding 5-4 lead.

Devan Dubnyk was 25/29 on saves in the game and didn’t the look the sharpest. Chicago had Scott Darling starting in the net and he went 25/30 on saves.

Your star of the game for the Wild didn’t score a goal, but assisted on three. Mikko Koivu had three assists in just over 18 minutes of ice time.

The Wild with the victory improve to 7-2-1 on the season and Chicago falls to 6-5-0. The Wild will do it all over again on Halloween night against the St. Louis Blues. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 from St. Louis.
