Brian Dozier is Back to His Normal Self!

After a rough start to the 2016 season, Brian Dozier is back to being the reliable hitter in the Minnesota Twins lineup.

Coming into the 2016 season, Brian Dozier was thought to have another breakout year and be a reliable bat in the Minnesota Twins lineup. In 2015 Dozier had cemented himself as one of the better second basemen in Major League Baseball.

After a hot start in Spring Training, the expectations for the Minnesota Twins team were very high. After posting a batting average of .362, Dozier looked like his old self. Then the regular season started.

With the Twins team as a whole under performing, Dozier was hitting .199/.284/.318 about a month ago. This was a new low for Dozier and there were rumblings questioning if the team should trade him at the deadline. After hitting 28 home runs last season, Dozier had only put four balls over the wall at that point.

Since the end of May, Dozier has been on a tear. In the last 30 games, Dozier has seen 115 at-bats. In that time Dozier has 39 hits and 7 home runs. He also has 21 RBI’s. Dozier has 4 stolen bases and has only struck out 19 times. In that time he has posted a line of .339/.412/.635.

His hot streak has only become hotter in the last three games. Hitting 4 home runs, and posting 7 RBI’s including last night’s game in which Dozier hit 2 home runs and batted in all four of scores in the Twins 4-0 win over the White Sox.

With a hot month under his belt, Dozier is back on pace to have another 25 home run season and has brought his season averages back up to .259/.341/.804. Being one of the lone bright spots of the Twins season as of late, hopefully Dozier can keep this up. He is playing like the player most Minnesota Twins fans knew he could be.
