As we look ahead into the blossoming career of Minnesota Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins, could he be an MVP candidate in 2020?

Up and coming Minnesota Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins has shown all the traits to be a great player in this league. He will be a key player in the Timberwolves success for the next few years at least.

Wiggins has been a player with star potential since he came into the league last year. Winning the NBA Rookie of the Year award was a given with the rookie season he put together. After putting together another great season last year, the national media is starting to take notice.

Yesterday, the guys at Bleacher Report put together a list of who they think will be the top wing players in the NBA in the year 2020. This list was a combination of some young players who aren’t in the league yet and current NBA players.

For each player they note their current age, what their age will be in 2020, if they will be in their prime, and their prediction for what level of player they are.

Coming in at number four on this list is Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins, and for good reason. Wiggins will continue to grow throughout the next few years and will be right in the beggining of his prime in 2020. He will have just turned 25.

"Wiggins wasn’t efficient but still averaged over 20 points. That takes legitimate scoring talent, and fresh blood at head coach will only help him grow once he’s allowed to fire away more frequently from beyond the arc. He wasn’t disciplined on defense, yet he showed the athletic tools necessary to serve as a top-notch stopper every once in a while.Unlocking the Kansas product’s potential is key, and that could take a few more years. But once it happens…"

This is high praise for Wiggins. He has all the potential that Timberwolves fans have seen up close, but he is finally receiving the credit on a national platform. They have predicted Wiggins to be a borderline MVP candidate in 2020. If Wiggins can live up to this prediction, with Karl-Anthony Towns carving his own path also, the Timberwolves will be in good shape come 2020.

The only players ahead of Wiggins on this list are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard, who is their prediction to be the number one wing in 2020. Wiggins is ranked ahead of Jimmy Butler, Klay Thompson, Paul George, and in 2020 an again Lebron James.

Wiggins should grow even more this year, especially under new Head Coach Tom Thibodeau. It will be interesting to look back on this to see where Wiggins falls among wing players in 2020.
