Every Minnesota Vikings fan felt that lump in their throat after hearing about Teddy Bridgewater’s injury. Don’t throw in the towel yet though my Viking faithful.

Nobody would have guessed that the Minnesota Vikings would be in such dire straits four days before the start of the regular season. It is an absolutely horrible situation, but this team will rally for a number of reasons.

With or without Teddy Bridgewater the 2016 Minnesota Vikings will make some noise in the NFC North, here’s why…

Defense, Defense, Defense

The Denver Broncos are starting a seventh round draft pick at QB this season. Trevor Siemian‘s on-field NFL experience has been one snap under center, a kneel down. So why would Broncos GM John Elway play such an inexperienced player? The short answer is that Elway has a stellar defense.

The Minnesota Vikings defenders will rank among the leagues best by season’s end. The Super Bowl hype prior to losing Teddy was not based on Minnesota’s high-flying offense, nor should it have been.

At every level Mike Zimmer’s crew is stacked with talent and depth.

One could say there are potentially six All-Pro caliber type of player’s starting for Coach Zim. Linval Joseph, Everson Griffen, Anthony Barr, Harrison Smith, Eric Kendricks, and Xavier Rhodes. Kendricks might be a stretch, but he did lead the team in tackles in his rookie year.

Another under-the-radar player that has the ability to be one of the freakiest pass rushers in the NFL this year is Danielle Hunter. Hunter is barely old enough to buy a beer, yet he will strike fear into any opponent who find themselves in third and long. Hunter will have double-digit sack totals in 2016.

Sam Bradford

It might not be pretty early on, but Sam Bradford will shine as the season progresses. The former number one draft pick has never played on a roster as talented as the Minnesota Vikings. The beauty of the Viking’ offense is its simplicity. He truly has one of the easiest jobs heading into Sunday’s opener. Turn left or right and hand it off to Adrian Peterson.

Adrian Peterson

I don’t know how he does it but our 31- year old superstar will have to dig deep and once again shoulder the load for the Vikes on offense. Adrian seems focused on one thing this year, winning the Super Bowl. Like it or not this might be Adrian’s best chance to put a shiny ring on those powerful hands. He may have to put extra tread on those cleats, expect him to have another season of 300+ carries in 2016.

Mike Zimmer

Last but certainly not least is our head coach. Mike Zimmer is a teacher at heart. A teacher that might bust out the paddle if you don’t listen, and his player’s respect that. You can easily tell where the Vikings get their feisty, never give up, attitude from.

This Sunday Zimmer will face a team that interviewed him to be their next head coach. The Tennessee Titans chose to go in another direction. To the chagrin of Titans’ fans the Vikings are trending upward, while their squad is still “rebuilding”. It’s only natural to want to show someone who thought you couldn’t handle the job why you’re better, and Mike Zimmer will do that starting Sunday.

We all need to take a deep breath, chillax, and watch how dominate the Minnesota Vikings can be. We’ve waited all summer to see what this team can do, SKOL, Viking football is back!
