Karl-Anthony Towns has had quite the summer. He now is the cover man for Slam Magazine, in a tribute to his teacher.

Karl-Anthony Towns has been all over this summer. From late night TV, to nationally televised commercials, Towns now graces the cover of SLAM magazine, one of the top basketball magazines around.

After an amazing rookie season, people already see the potential that Towns has. Some are calling him one of the top centers in the NBA, which stats say is already true.

Towns has gained national attention, something that has not happened for a Minnesota Timberwolves player since Kevin Garnett.

Garnett is there to teach Towns on a daily basis. Bringing Garnett back to Minnesota was an amazing idea with all the young talent that the Timberwolves hold. Garnett’s intensity, and unmatched work ethic is something that has rubbed off on Towns and will only make him a better player and professional.

In this months issue of SLAM magazine, Towns gives it a throwback feel. Garnett also graced the cover of SLAM magazine many times, but Towns will recreate one of Garnett’s old cover shoots.

Towns has been seen lately wearing his throwback Garnett jersey. He is the second coming of Garnett to the Minnesota sports scene. Hopefully this time around, Towns can bring home the title to Minnesota, but it is a little early to be talking about that.

In a questionnaire with Towns, he said that “it is a great time to be a Minnesotan.” He also mentioned that he loves the state of Minnesota, and wants to stay for the rest of his career.

Karl-Anthony Towns is just getting into his NBA career, and is no where near his prime yet. When it is said and done, the Towns to Garnett comparisons should prove worthy.
