With the NBA season just starting last week, the Minnesota Timberwolves are already said to be in contract talks with multiple players who are up for free agency next season.

With the Minnesota Timberwolves season starting last week, there are a lot of questions about how this roster will end up looking in the next few years.

Whether it is trade rumors surrounding Ricky Rubio, or Tyus Jones, or if Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad will sign extensions before the season is over and they hit the free agent market.

Well it looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves are in contract extension talks with both Dieng and Muhammad.

It will be interesting to see what the numbers end up being on these two players extensions.

Gorgui Dieng has shown to be a nice piece playing next to Towns, but many have wondered if he is the ideal fit next to the young superstar with him playing out of position at Power Forward.

After a huge sophmore season, Muhammad was looking like a promising player on the rise. His number sunk the next season.

More from Sporting Sota

This year Muhammad has shown that promise once again, when he has an opportunity to get on the floor. Muhammad has always played with a high motor and he is a great rebounder, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Using Muhammad as a small ball power forward against smaller lineups like Golden State last season showed the organization that he can be very useful. His hardwork this offseason has impressed new head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Seeing the contracts being handed out this offseason, if we wait to let these two hit free agency, there will be multiple teams offering more money than the Timberwolves are willing to let go of.

It looks like Muhammad might want more money that the Timberwolves are willing to offer. He might wait to see what he can make on the open market.

With the 2012 Timberwolves draft class having until 12pm Eastern Time to sign a contact extension, here are my predictions for both contracts.

Gorgui Dieng: 4 year, $75M deal

Shabazz Muhammad: 4 year, $55M deal
