The Minnesota Twins had Jose Berrios on the mound on Wednesday and so far that means a victory for the club.

"“Baltimore, it’s been fun.”"

That’s how it ended on Wednesday afternoon at Camden Yards. That was the final out call from Cory Provus on the Twins Radio Network and it was true. It was a fun series.

The Minnesota Twins swept the Baltimore Orioles with a 4-3 victory behind another solid pitching performance from Jose Berrios. Berrios went 6.1 innings and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks. All three runs off of Berrios came via solo home runs and he was especially flying until the seventh inning.

Minnesota had potential for a big first inning in Baltimore, but only got across three runs in the first frame. Kennys Vargas started it with a two-RBI single to left field. Eduardo Escobar followed it up immediately with a RBI single to center giving the Twins a 3-0 cushion before Berrios even hit the mound.

Max Kepler hit an RBI double in the second to make it 4-0. That’s where the scoring would stop for the Twins, but Baltimore had some runs up their sleeve.

In the third, Twins killer and, of course, ex-Twin JJ Hardy hit a solo homer to ruin a no-hitter for Berrios. It would take until the seventh for Orioles to score again. Chris Davis hit a solo shot and Jonathan Schoop followed two batters later forcing the pull of Berrios.

The Twins bullpen would come in and close the door, though. Ryan Pressly, Taylor Rogers and Brandon Kintzler threw a combined 2.2 innings and only allowed two hits and a walk.

Patrick Tillman pitched five innings for the Orioles which is slightly impressive after he needed over 30 pitches to get out of the first inning alone. All four runs the Twins scored in the series finale were credited to Tillman.

Final score: 4-3, Twins win.

What’s next for the Twins?

The Twins have an off day on Thursday. Following that, the Twins return to Target Field for a three-game weekend set with the Tampa Bay Rays. Friday’s game is set for a 7:10 first pitch. Saturday and Sunday both have first pitch times of 1:10 Central.
