Rubio is just like us. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard would like his employer to listen to him a little more.

Ricky Rubio has been the focus of a lot of rumors recently. Between the New York Knicks still being interested in the point guard to the Wolves being interested in Derrick Rose which might be the downfall of Rubio as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves… for a team that didn’t make the playoffs, the headlines have been rolling in on Rubio.

Monday’s headline was brought to the forefront by the Star Tribune’s RandBall, I’m pretty sure Rand has to have about a million Google Alerts setup with all the interesting tidbits he finds. Rand dug into the goldmine of Rubio talking to foreign media and found a couple of nice nuggets.

Rubio talked with Ara.cat which was translated via Eurohoops.net found by RandBall about varying topics. The prime quote being floated around is about how Ricky would like the Timberwolves to listen to him a little more.

"“Yes, I would like to my opinion to have more weight on things that affect the team. And I think that is linked to the performance on the court. My second leg of the season gives me more power.”"

Rubio also talked about his leadership.

"“I feel I have the role of the leader off the court and experience helps me to know how to do it. Since childhood, I liked to lead the team. Both on and off the court. I’m not a man of many words, I don’t like to talk much. I prefer deeds, sacrifices and showing that what matters is the team.”"

Personally, I don’t disagree with Rubio. I think that teams should listen to and seek out the opinions of their best players. Tom Thibodeau should be running a lot of things by Karl-Anthony Towns and at least getting his opinion. That should be the same with every team’s point guard, if that point guard is seen as a major key to the future. Management doesn’t need to act on what the players say, but there should at the very least be a conversation.

The obvious problem is that we don’t really know what the Timberwolves are thinking with the future of Ricky.
