The Wild swapped a couple defenseman on their roster Sunday.

Minnesota recalled Marco Scandella from Houston and returned Matt Dumba to Red Deer of the Western Hockey League, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.

Dumba, 18, had been on the Wild roster since opening day, but hadn’t played a game this season. According to Russo, Dumba will return to Red Deer for the season.

With solid depth on Minnesota’s roster, the 2012 7th-overall pick was not going to hit the ice anytime soon, barring injuries.

Scandella, 22, has bounced between Houston and Minnesota the past couple seasons, but played most of last season for the Wild. He is expected to play tonight against the St. Louis Blues, per the report.
