Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman has returned and is coaching practice at Target Center, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Adelman missed the last 11 games, tending to his wife. Terry Porter was acting head coach in Adelman’s absence.
Per the report, Adelman is expected to coach the team Wednesday night against the Clippers.
With a critical six-game homestand starting Wednesday, the Timberwolves (17-24) need Adelman more than ever right now. The team was 2-9 in Adelman’s absence and is quickly falling out of playoff contention.
The Timberwolves expect both center Nikola Pekovic (thigh contusion) and guard Alexey Shved (ankle) back at some point in this homestand, perhaps with Shved back as early as Wednesday.
Both Shved and Pekovic are practicing Wednesday, the team announced Monday. Both players missed last five games.
