Mike Singletary, who serves as linebackers coach for the Vikings, interviewed this week for the Rams’ defensive coordinator job, according to Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports.
Singletary would eventually like to be a head coach in the NFL again. He interviewed last month for the head-coaching job in Chicago, where Singletary played.
Serving as a defensive coordinator could improve his chances of being a head coach again.
The Rams appear to be looking for a coordinator that will install a 4-3 base defense. Singletary is familiar with both 3-4 and 4-3 defensive packages.
Singletary coached for 3-4 linebackers in San Francisco, but coached 4-3 linebackers since 2011 for the Vikings’ Tampa-2 defense.
