The Vikings are expected to address the receiver position in free agency and in the draft.
Target No. 1: Free agent receiver Steve Breaston.
Rumors started Monday that Breaston is scheduled to meet with the Vikings, Browns and Lions this week and that Breaston had already met with the Steelers.
According to a report by Mike Florio of NBC Sports, Breaston met with the Steelers on Feb. 24.
Breaston, 29, was released after spending two seasons with the Chiefs. He apparently fell out of favor in Kansas City and was never really given a chance.
Teams aren’t allowed to begin negotiating with other teams’ players who are set to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the league year until March 9. Breaston’s situation is different because he was released by the Chiefs, meaning he is fair game to all potential suitors.
The 2013 league year begins on March 12, the start of free agency and the trading period.
