The longer-than-expected wait is just about over.

Florida International’s head coach Richard Pitino, son of Louisville’s head coach Rick Pitino, has verbally agreed to be head coach at Minnesota, according to CBSSports.com.

CBS Sports reports that Gophers athletic director Norwood Teague was in Florida Wednesday:

"Sources told CBSSports.com that athletic director Norwood Teague met with Pitino and Towson coach Pat Skerry down in Florida on Wednesday. Arizona State assistant Eric Musselman was also involved."

Pitino, 30, was previously an assistant to his dad at Louisville and at Florida with Billy Donovan.
