Houston, we have a problem.

The Minnesota Wild is expected to announce in the next couple weeks that it will end its relationship with the Houston Aeros, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.

Per the report, the Wild has not been able to come to terms on a new lease at the Toyota Center in Houston. The team is expected to relocate its American Hockey League affiliate to Des Moines, where it will play at Wells Fargo Arena.

Another possible landing spot for Minnesota’s minor league affiliate is Souix Falls, according to Dakota Case of our affiliate site Gone Puck Wild:

"Another location with big Minnesota Wild connections is Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where construction has begun on a 12,000 seat arena modeled after the Winnipeg Jets’ MTS Centre. The Stampede, Sioux Falls’ USHL team is owned in part and run by Tom Garrity, former President of the Houston Aeros and current President/CEO of Sioux Falls Sports."
