With minimal game experience at the quarterback position for the Minnesota Gophers, the team will attempt to minimize the amount of hits on their signal callers.
"“I think there’s a lot of the quarterback run game that we kind of got rid of,” Philip Nelson said via ShamaSportsHeadliners.com."
As a freshman, Nelson started seven games last year in relief of injured quarterbacks MarQueis Gray and Max Shortell. The depth behind Nelson includes redshirt freshman Mitch Leidner and true freshman Chris Streveler.
Quarterback read-options and designed quarterback run plays are very common in college football.
