Duron Carter hopes to further pursue his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings by making a good impression at the team’s rookie camp as a camp tryout.
He just needs to shake off the some rookie camp jitters.
Per 1500 ESPN Twin Cities, Carter had three drops on his first three chances on Friday, the first day of the scheduled three-day camp. He also had to be pulled back a few times by coaches when he tried to sub himself in at the wrong time.
"“Just getting some butterflies out,” Carter said. “Things are fast-paced. I have to work on some things and just get better.”"
Many scouting reports praise Carter for having great hands and athleticism. It is very likely that nerves are playing a role here early on.
Carter, son of former Viking receiver Cris Carter, was also reportedly invited to try out at the Baltimore Ravens’ rookie camp. The ESPN Twin Cities report says Carter chose Minnesota because of wide receiver coach George Stewart.
