Minnesota Lynx Maya Moore Named Western Conference Player For September
By Sarita Kelly
Lynx forward Maya Moore can now add more accolades to her already impressive resume. Moore was selected the WNBA’s Western Conference player of the month for September.
That makes it two months in a row now as she was selected the league’s player of the month in August.
In five games she averaged 18 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals and lead the Lynx to a 4-1 record this month. The Lynx (28-6) finished with the league’s best record this season to secure homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs for the third consecutive year.
They are the third team in WNBA history to compile three consecutive 25-plus victory seasons. The others are Houston (1998-2000) and Los Angeles (2000-02).
Moore finished the regular season leading the WNBA in three-point accuracy (.453) and three-pointers made (72), the first player in league history to accomplish this feat.
The Lynx play host to the Seattle Storm in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Friday at Target Center. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.
