The Minnesota Vikings (1-3) will be hosting the Carolina Panthers (1-3) at the Mall of America Field on Sunday, October 13, 2013. The Vikings will be coming off of their bye which followed their first win of the season, while the Panthers are looking to redeem themselves from last week’s loss at Arizona 22-6.
The Vikings have had their best offensive performance of the season. They had 140 rushing yards and 2 TDs from Adrian Peterson and 248 passing yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT and 123.4 passer rating from Matt Cassel. Cassel will once again be the starter for this game and Christian Ponder will play back up.
The Vikings defense is also picking up the pace as well. They forced 12 turnovers through first 4 games and are ranked 4th in the NFL. Jared Allen recorded 2.5 sacks against Pittsburgh and that now brings his total to 3.5 this season.
WR Greg Jennings 70-yard touchdown pass vs. Pittsburgh, marking his 7th 70-plus yard receiving touchdown, tied for 5th in NFL history and tied for 1st among active players.
Vikings offensive tackle Matt Kalil will face Brother Panthers Center Ryan Kalil for the first time in their NFL careers. And to make this game more special for the Kalil family, their sister Danielle will sing the National Anthem prior to the game.
The last time these two teams meet was in October of last year when the Vikings beat the Panthers 24-21. Let’s hope the outcome is the same as last years.
