Coach Leslie Frazier has announced Wednesday that Christian Ponder may play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers because Josh Freeman has concussion-type symptoms.

“We have to move forward as if he is not playing on Sunday night,” Frazier said of Freeman, who he had said on Tuesday would remain the starting quarterback.
Freeman believes he suffered his head injury on a hit in the third quarter, Frazier said. Freeman didn’t say anything about it during the game, the coach said.
Frazier said history shows that’s it’s tough to return from concussions in a short week. Freeman will take concussion tests Wednesday.
Freeman connected on just 20 of his 53 passes in Monday night’s loss to the New York Giants. He became the second quarterback in league history to throw for fewer than 200 yards on more than 50 attempts.
