Despite the Minnesota Vikings lose to the Cowboys Christian Ponder will be the starting quarterback when the team faces the Washington Redskins Thursday.

Ponder’s performance Sunday was one of his best this season. He was 25 of 37 for 236 yards, one touchdown and had one interception.

Coach Leslie Frazier said Sunday, via the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “”As we speak, I don’t see why we would make a change, sometimes after ballgames you make emotional decisions, but I don’t see anything that tells me he shouldn’t start against the Redskins.”

All three quarterbacks this season have been rather unimpressive.

Backup Matt Cassel’s one game looked the best of any of the three quarterbacks, and he was the starter when Minnesota got its one win of the season.

But the one game Freeman played was bad. The Vikings were too gung ho to start him and that lack of patients showed with Freeman’s inaccuracy and messy plays showed loud and clear.

So for the Vikings, going with the “devil” that you know in Ponder, seems like the logical (to them) choice.

“It’s what I need,” Ponder said. “I need to be out there playing. I’m happy that I’m out here playing, but losing sucks. We’ve got to make sure that we get this turned around and go out there and win.”
