Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Matt Cassel Will Start Sunday Against Philadelphia

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel impressed Coach Leslie Frazier with his skills last week that he has been named the starter again this week. Christian Ponder will be the backup, Frazier said Wednesday.

While we have the quarterback situation settled it still is to be seen if running back Adrian Peterson (sprained foot) or his backup, Toby Gerhart (strained hamstring), will be able to play Sunday against Philadelphia at the Metrodome. Frazier seemed to be more optimistic about Gerhart than Peterson, but hopes both will be able to return to practice Friday.
