For avid football watchers, the bye week can be dreadful. However, it’s a great time to reflect and improve. Here is the story of the Vikings 2014 season thus far, explained with GIFS!
Week One: Rams
The season opener against the Rams consisted of offensive and defensive domination for the Vikings. At this point, we couldn’t tell if the Vikings were really good or the Rams were really bad.
Week Two: Patriots
Then… We got BELICHICKED. Oh and Matt Cassel must have thought he still played for the Patriots, throwing four interceptions.
Week Three: Saints
Our loss to the Saints in the Big Easy was a weird one. The defense looked pretty solid, we lost our starting QB Matt Cassel, and we got to see our prized rookie Teddy Bridgewater.
Week Four: Falcons
After a couple disappointing performances, Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings came to play. We put up our highest point total thus far with 41, but Mrs. Bridgewater stole the show!
Week Five: Packers
It was hard to pick a highlight for this one because it’s a game I am trying to forget about. We got smoked in ALL phases.
Week Six: Lions
The Vikings offense had TCF Bank Stadium sounding like a library, which is unfortunate because the defense played well. Oh, and we might as well have not fielded an offensive line.
Week Seven: Bills
We better cross our fingers that this loss doesn’t come back to haunt us in the future. Unfortunately, our offense kept the Bills in the game because the defense played well until the final drive. Shoulda-coulda-woulda won this one.
Week Eight: Buccaneers
After a series of tough losses, the Vikings rebounded in Tampa Bay. The defense was stout despite another struggle on the offensive side. Ultimately, rookie Anthony Barr made the game-winning play with a 27-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
Week Nine: Redskins
Going into week nine at 3-5, this game was a must win. The Vikings overcame some questionable officiating and got the job done at home. Also, the Vikings offense played well for the first time since the victory against the Falcons in week four.
With a new coaching staff, a rookie quarterback and an assortment of issues that have taken several starters out of the mix, I am happy with the effort our team has put forth through nine weeks. The future is bright with Mike Zimmer and Norv Turner, Who knows what will happen with Adrian Peterson, but if our offense starts putting up requisite points, we have the defense to take us to the playoffs.
