There are no positives to report, Timberwolves fans. It took until December 3rd for the Philadelphia 76ers to obtain their first win. It was not a pretty one. The Timberwolves played flat-out uninspired basketball in front of a whopping 10,463 fans.

“You don’t want to be that team and we were that team,” Corey Brewer said. “It’s just something we have to deal with and we have to go back to the drawing board.”

The fact that the Wolves shot 36% from the field and were still in the game shows just how bad the 76ers are. Had Golden State been the opponent tonight, they might have won by 50. Now last in the Western Conference, it appears the Timberwolves  are in for a very long season.

When needed most, defense was no where to be found. Philadelphia shot 39% from the field and 21% from three point land. But of their five 3-point makes, three were wide-open late in the fourth quarter. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing, NBA players are going to make wide-open threes.

There’s no easy way to  say it.. The Timberwolves are one of the five worst teams in the league right now. Completely decimated by injuries, they’re 2-8 in their last ten games. Where on earth are Nikola Pekovic and Ronny Turiaf? This team was projected 25 wins this year and I thought over was a safe bet. I am starting to worry.

With upcoming games against Houston, San Antonio, Golden State, Portland and Oklahoma City, we’re in for a painful stretch of Timberwolves basketball. They’re the fourth youngest team in the NBA with an average age of 24.9, so there will be growing pains. Now is one of those times. Let’s hope for improvement against some great competition.

Best Quote: No one was more excited about the 76ers first victory than head coach Brett Brown. When asked how he’ll celebrate, he said, “Cart wheels, somersaults, great dinner with my family,” Brown said. “Hug my players. Really, salute the fans.”
