2014 has not been kind to most of the teams in the great state of Minnesota. Actually, the last 25 years have not been too kind, but let’s focus here. If you sort through the wreckage of yet another disappointing calendar year, there are still some highlights. With that in mind, and since the year is coming to a close, I’ve decided we should determine the best of the year. I will be breaking it into different categories, starting today with Best Game of the Year.
So this seems like a fun idea, but I’m only one fan. Who am I to decide, singlehandedly, what is and is not worthy?

I need you to help determine the best team, moment, game, etc. of 2014. The way it will work is as follows: I will present the options, write a quick review, then post a poll at the bottom of each article. The polls will be open for one week each. After voting has closed, there will be a recap of who won and why. Each category will also have the option of “Other”, as I will no doubt forget some worthy candidates who are deserving of consideration. If you do choose other, leave a comment and tell me who I missed.
As far as Best Game goes, I think the choice is fairly obvious, but have presented a few options. First is the Wild beating the Avalanche in overtime in Game Seven of last season’s first round. Nino Niederreiter scored what is tied for the most important goal in Wild history, elevating them to the second round for the second time ever. The next option is Teddy Bridgewater picking the Atlanta Falcons apart in his first career start. The other one I deemed to be worthy is also the most recent; the Gophers coming back from two touchdowns down to beat Nebraska.
