2. Randy Moss

In his time(s) with the Vikings, Randy Moss said that he played his hardest only when he wanted to, pushed a traffic cop with his Lexus, got traded, was traded back for, complained about the catering and got cut by Brad Childress, which incidentally hastened Childress’s exit from town as well.

Despite all of that, I have never been able to quit Randy Moss. Most of that stems from his obscenely good rookie season in 1998. Between embarrassing the Packers on Monday Night Football, shredding the Cowboys on Thanksgiving and just generally destroying every team in his wake, Moss was the straw that stirred the drink of the best Vikings team I’ve ever seen. I will never recover from them not making the Super Bowl that year. Still, going back and watching those highlights never gets old.

It will always be interesting that the Vikings were the team to take a chance on the “troubled” Moss, considering they truly did not “need” Moss. They already had the dynamic duo of Cris Carter and Jake Reed, yet Moss is the one who put them over the top. Seems worth remembering for the people saying the Vikings don’t need a receiver even if Teddy’s old friend Davante Parker is available to the team in the upcoming draft.
