Being a Minnesota Twins fan has not been easy over the last four seasons. They’ve eclipsed the dreaded 90-loss mark in each one. It’s just been flat-out bad baseball and attendance has understandably taken a hit. In 2010, the opening year of Target Field, an average of just under 40,000 fans showed up to cheer on the Twins every game. They won the division that year and a new era of Minnesota baseball was underway.
Little did we know, that era would consist of being the laughing stock of the American League for four straight years.
With each passing non-competitive year, the organization has suffered. In 2014, attendance dropped to a Target Field-low of just 27,785 per game. With such a beautiful ballpark and loving fan base, it’s amazing Twins baseball has stooped to this level.
However, while last year was another 90+ loss season, it wasn’t nearly as painful. For once there were several bright spots that can be used as building blocks moving forward.
