17. Stuart Turner, C

Turner is the consummate catcher. He has received rave reviews for his game-calling ability, and on top of that is a very good blocker with a great arm that is capable of throwing out runners. Based on defense alone, Turner should make the majors as a Drew Butera type at the very least. However, it stands to reason that Turner has a far more advanced bat than most would think. He will never win a batting title, but will hit well enough to be an every-day hitter and could be much like Minnesota’s current catcher, Kurt Suzuki. When Suzuki’s 2 year contract is up, all heads will turn to Turner who looks to be the catcher of the future. With so many young and talented arms coming through the system, it will be huge to have a catcher who can work with them and have chemistry with them, some of which he has already formed chemistry with.
