Yes, I know I’ve said several times that I like Matt Kalil and Phil Loadholt at the Vikings’ offensive tackle positions. But if Iowa’s Brandon Scherff is available at the spot at pick 11, we should be all over him.
Scherff would be excellent “tackle insurance”, as he can be slotted in at guard unless something goes wrong on the outside. The 6′-5″ 320 pound offensive lineman has absolutely all the intangibles, especially for a team that gave up a massive 51 sacks last season.
In all likely-hood, Scherff will be scooped up by the time the Vikings are on the clock. But if he’s there, it’s an absolute no-brainer.
