Watching the Adrian Peterson Saga play out reminds me of a cold snap during a Minnesota winter: Something that needs to be dealt with and there’s nothing you can do to make it better. Just have to wait it out until it is over.

Jason Cole over at Bleacher Report is reporting that Peterson has requested a trade from the Vikings, specifically to the Dallas Cowboys. Meanwhile, Vikings beat writer Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press has refuted that, saying that while Peterson was disappointed by some of the reaction to his situation that he still would be willing to play for the Vikings.

In other words, a bunch of word salad. This whole situation has been rough. I have gone on record multiple times saying I want Peterson to be back with the Vikings. However, if he truly does want out and is going to disrupt the locker room in any way maybe it is time to move him for draft picks. Now that Teddy Bridgewater is in town Peterson is no longer the face of the franchise. I want him to be in town to help Bridgewater take this offense to the next level. However, that plan will only work if everyone is on board. As Nick stated, the Vikings have been. Peterson is the question mark.

The Dallas thing has been looming on the horizon ever since the infamous phone call between Jerry Jones and Peterson came to light last summer. It seems perfectly plausible to me that Peterson may well prefer to end up in Dallas. In some ways, maybe it would be easier for everyone involved, especially since his method of punishing his was ingrained in Peterson in Palestine, Texas. That certainly does not absolve Peterson of his actions but it may be accepted more generally by the fans down in Dallas.

Quite frankly, I am very tired of this story. I’m sure a lot of you are tired of reading about it as well. The fact is, this is

maybe

news so it has to be discussed. Regardless it will be in everyone’s best interest to move on. Whether that means Peterson and the Vikings committing to each other or moving Peterson, the sooner the better for all parties involved.

I am of a firm belief that the Vikings are trending in the right direction and will need to be reckoned with by the rest of the NFC sooner rather than later. I expect that to be the case with or without Peterson.
