Niklas Backstrom: 2008-2009
Especially in his first few seasons with the Wild, Niklas Backstrom has put together some very nice years in green and red. The best of which came in 2008-2009, when the theme for Backstrom was consistency.
It was the most games in a season a Wild goaltender has ever played and also the highest one has finished in the Vezina voting (3).
Backstrom started a whopping 71 games for Minnesota, finishing with a .923 SV% and a 2.33 GAA.
Are the numbers the best we’ve seen in Wild history? No. But the man started 71 games with solid numbers all season long. You can’t argue with that.
