Minnesota Vikings Josh Robinson Has Partially Torn Pec

The road just got tougher for Minnesota Vikings cornerback Josh Robinson. Not only has the defensive backfield quickly filled up with talent, but now the 2012 draft pick has a partially torn pectoral muscle according to ESPN’s Ben Goessling.

Robinson was taken in the third round three drafts ago, 2012, and is set to make $1.552 million this season, but his ability to make the team will be strained with the partially torn pec.

As Goessling points out, this isn’t the first time that this injury has affected the Vikings’ locker room. In the past year alone, offensive lineman Brandon Fusco and Phil Loadholt were both shelved on the injured reserve due to the injury. Defensive end Brian Robison also suffered from the injury which limited his work in the spring.

The cornerback stable for the Vikings still looks to be pretty good. Minnesota has veterans like Terence Newman and Captain Munnerlyn lined up as the main corners. The injury to Robinson will probably boost the Vikings first round draft pick into much more playing time instantly, so Vikings fans who want to see a lot of Trae Waynes will likely get their wish granted.

The Vikings kickoff their first preseason game with the Hall of Fame Game on August 9. The first regular season game for the Vikes is Monday, September 14 in San Francisco.
