Minnesota Twins Rumors: Carlos Gomez Reunion Looks Unlikely
Not all that long ago, we talked right here on this very website about the possibility of Carlos Gomez returning to the Minnesota Twins via a trade from the struggling Milwaukee Brewers. The potential move got legs from a proposed trade that CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman put in a story earlier in the month.
The great St. Paul Pioneer Press Twins beat guy Mike Berardino says that it doesn’t look like the Twins will be going down that path as they tune up the squad before the trade deadline.
As I mentioned before, the Twins currently stand in an interesting position when it comes to their outfield, while it would be nice to upgrade, the Twins could be set in the outfield for the next couple years with players already under team control.
Torii Hunter has been worth the signing and should be coming back for another season. Eddie Rosario has looked impressive as a rookie and has been one of the better defensive left fielders the Twins have thrown out there in recent years. Heck, even Aaron Hicks has looked a lot better this season at the major league level than ever before.

We haven’t even mentioned Byron Buxton who is currently out with injury and won’t instantly be with the Twins after he is healthy. Oswaldo Arcia is currently raking in Triple-A and could be another possible addition to the big league squad.
While that $9 million is an amazing deal for Gomez, it doesn’t make sense to mortgage the future for someone who doesn’t fit perfectly in the puzzle.
Let’s all turn our attention to another former Twin, A.J. Pierzynski.
