Minnesota Vikings Restructure Adrian Peterson’s Contract
Adrian Peterson cried about not having guaranteed money in the last three years of his current contract with the Minnesota Vikings and the crying paid off. The Vikings announced on Tuesday that the team has restructured the All-Pro running back’s contract, but details were not released.
Multiple media reports has Peterson getting $20 million guaranteed.
Peterson released a statement after the team’s announcement:
"“I appreciate the Vikings for working together on this restructured contract, which provides additional security for me but also allows opportunities for me to further prove my value to the team and within the NFL. It was important for me to continue my career in Minnesota, and I cannot wait to get on the field in front of Vikings fans again.”More from Adrian PetersonAdrian Peterson Can Win Another Rushing TitleMinnesota Vikings earn Giant victory, clinch playoff berthMinnesota Vikings getting healthy ahead of primetime game with GiantsMinnesota Vikings: Adrian Peterson only Vikings player elected to Pro BowlMinnesota Vikings dominate Chicago Bears, increase playoff chances"
The restructured deal, which we can safely assume gives Peterson guaranteed money, looks to put to rest any unrest that might have been lingering between the player and his team. Peterson did not like the way the Vikings handled his suspension a season ago which fueled a lot of trade rumors, especially towards his hometown team of the Dallas Cowboys.
Millions of dollars will change anybody’s mind about their employer, I’m sure.
Peterson has been back with the team for less than two months after returning to the team on June 2. The deal puts Peterson in purple for sure for a trio of more years which will also see the maturing of starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater going into his second NFL season and his first with Peterson in his backfield.
