Minnesota Twins: It’s Time For Josmil Pinto

If you’ve followed the Minnesota Twins this season, well, it was fun while it lasted, but also you’ve probably noticed that Kurt Suzuki hasn’t be the offensive juggernaut that he was at least in the first half of the 2014 campaign. The lack of productivity is just one of the many few problems that are pestering the Twins, but the solution might be coming about sooner.

Josmil Pinto is symptom free from a concussion he has been dealing with for a chunk of the season and should be back activated and back in action soon at Triple-A Rochester.

Pinto should probably be a DH, because he’s defensive abilities behind the plate are really nothing to write home about, but his bat could look really good in a Twins lineup that can barely get hits anymore no less get any runs across the plate.

The Twins need a spark to stay in this Wild Card chase and Pinto might be what the team needs. The team would have to sacrifice some defense for some offense, but crazier things have been put in motion before.

Kevin Jepsen was the only thing the Twins gathered at the trade deadline and that has not worked yet. I’m in the boat that is perfectly fine with the Twins not selling the farm to get Troy Tulowitzki and the like, but it’s become evident that something needs to shake this team up in the post-All-Star break portion of the schedule.

Pinto wouldn’t fix every problem with the Twins, hell, Mike Trout couldn’t do that, but Pinto could spark a fire. Maybe. It’s to the point where if the Twins really do want to try to compete this season, a move like this does have to be made.
