Minnesota Twins: Dynamite Bullpen Performance Pushes Twins To 3-2 Win

It was a good day for Byron Buxton to get his first career MLB RBI as it was the winning run in a Minnesota Twins 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night. It was a tight game through and through, but a seventh inning rally put the Twins ahead for good.

The Orioles had a lead since the second inning with an RBI double from left fielder Henry Urrutia, but All-Star Brian Dozier tied it up in the sixth via an RBI single which scored Eduardo Escobar. Former Twin J.J. Hardy got the lead right back for the Orioles with a sac fly, but again that didn’t last long.

Kurt Suzuki first hit a sacrifice to tie it with Eddie Rosario scampering in. Two batters later, Buxton hit a RBI single to score the winning run.

The story still might be the bullpen who have stepped up tremendously this series for the Twins without closer Glen Perkins. The bullpen has yet to give up a run in the series and they were absolute dynamite on Saturday night. The last three innings saw three different guys and all had dynamite innings.

Casey Fien had a 1-2-3 in the seventh. Trevor May in the eighth struck out the side and faced only four. Kevin Jepsen in the ninth had a 1-2-3 inning.

Jepsen has absolutely closed the door in his interim closer role while Perkins is out due to a neck issue.

Now the Twins are going to try to do something that they haven’t done since 2007.

You can see if the Twins can sweep the Orioles tomorrow on Fox Sports North or all across the Twins Baseball Network. First pitch is set for 12:35 from Camden Yards.

Next: Oh, Ricky Nolasco...
