The defensive backfield for the Minnesota Vikings is officially less deep now. As expect, the Vikings have placed corner back Josh Robinson on the PUP, physically unable to perform, list, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Robinson partially tore his pectoral muscle in spring practice and hasn’t seen a moment of practice since that moment for the purple.

The PUP list means that Robinson is not eligible to return to the playing field until Week 7 of the regular season. After that there is a five week window for the Vikings to get Robinson can return to practice and after he practices Robinson needs to be added to the active roster within three weeks.

The placing of Robinson on the PUP list does get the Vikings closer to the 75 roster limit that they need to reach by Tuesday.

Robinson going to the PUP list and offensive tackle Carter Bykowski being put on the injured reserve, who’s season is now over with a torn pectoral, got the Vikings to a total of 76. Minnesota will then, obviously, need to cut a player by Tuesday.

Robinson was taken in the third round three drafts ago, 2012, and is set to make $1.552 million this season Robinson has played in 42 games in his three-year career with the Vikings. In his rookie year, Robinson picked off two throws.

This last season, Robinson played in 16 games and started in five of those. Robinson notched three interceptions last season with the Vikings.

Robinson and Bykowski add to the pec injury weirdness that is surrounding the Vikings recently. In the past year alone, offensive lineman Brandon Fusco and Phil Loadholt both were on the injured reserve due to the injury. Defensive end Brian Robison also suffered from the injury this spring and limited his workload.
