Minnesota Twins: Eduardo Escobar stays hot, Twins defeat Kansas City Royals
The Minnesota Twins didn’t take Labor Day off. They might’ve taken the day before off, but when playing the division leading, best team in the league Kansas City Royals, well, then the Twins comes to play ball. They won the ballgame, 6-2, in Kansas City.
Aaron Hicks made sure that the Twins would start off strong. Hicks hit a leadoff homer to kick the game to give the Twins their first lead. Ex-Twin Kendrys Morlaes hit into a fielder’s choice to tie the game in the bottom of the inning, but that’s as close as the Royals would get to the lead.
Minnesota put together a three-run rally in the sixth. The incredibly hot Eduardo Escobar hit an RBI single to start the scoring in the inning which scored Torii Hunter and got Kurt Suzuki to third. Suzuki would later than score on a wild pitch tossed by Royals starter Yordano Ventura. Joe Mauer hit an sac-fly later in the inning to score Escobar to get the Twins lead to 4-1.

In the seventh inning, Escobar was at it again. The best Eduardo hit a two-run RBI single to get the Twins lead to 6-2. Salvador Perez hit a sac fly in the seventh, but that is the only response the Royals could muster on Monday night.
Tommy Milone got the start for the Twins and threw a solid one for the squad. Milone went seven innings and allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts. The seven inning outing got the Twins to the solid bullpen enders of Trevor May and Kevin Jepsen. May allowed three hits, but allowed no runs. Jepsen pitched a perfect inning of work while striking out two Royals.
Game two of the series is scheduled for a 7:10 start on Tuesday night from Kansas City.
