Minnesota Vikings: Everson Griffen predicts victory over Detroit Lions
Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is mad. The Detroit Lions won’t like it when he’s mad, because Griffen told Ben Goessling of ESPN that the Vikings are going to beat the Lions on Sunday afternoon.
“We’re going to beat Detroit. I’m very angry right now, as you can see, because we prepared way too hard (to lose on Monday). But we’re going to go out there and get ’em.”
Lions running back, who looks to be about to lose his job after we talked with our friends over at Detroit Jock City, tweeted a screenshot of the ESPN alert quoting Griffen. Bell used the hashtag #ChargedUp in the tweet.

If Bell and the Lions need bulletin board material to get motivated to beat the Vikings, well, that’s an issue in itself. The Lions should have beaten the San Diego Chargers fairly easily in Week One, but failed to do so after getting off to a hot start.

I love it when players say that they are going to beat the other team, because that’s the truth of what they are feeling and thinking. Nobody will ever tell a reporter that they think their team is going to lose. If a player did do that, fans would be calling for his release and picketing outside the team’s practice facility.
The game is going to be close. As Goessling points out in his piece, the Vikings have lost three of their last four to Detroit including a 17-3 loss at home against them last season.
On the other hand, Patrick Reusse always says that Bud Grant is in the Hall of Fame because of the Detroit Lions. Heck, Mike Tice has the Lions to thank for a lot of his victories too.
Lions and Vikings kickoff at noon on Sunday from TCF Bank Stadium and Griffen is ready to win.
