Minnesota Twins remember how to win, Duffey shuts down Angels
The Minnesota Twins have remembered how to win, apparently. After dropping five games in a row, the Twins finally won on Sunday afternoon defeating the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 8-1.
Evidence that the tide may have finally turned for the Twins is that it was Twins early and all game long. Torii Hunter started the scoring with a solo homer in the second. The following inning, Eddie Rosario hit a two-run homer to extend the lead to 3-0.
Aaron Hicks hit an RBI single in the fourth to make it 4-0. Eduardo Nunez and Hicks both consecutively drew walks in the fifth inning that walked in runs for the Twins. Joe Mauer hit a two-run homer in the eighth making it 8-0.
Jett Bandy hit a solo homer in the ninth off of Glen Perkins for the Angles, but that is all the scoring Los Angeles could muster all game long.

It wasn’t only an offensive showcase for the Twins, but it was a spectacular pitching night for the Twins as well. Tyler Duffey was called onto stop the bleeding for the Twins and Duffey delivered.
Duffey pitched seven shutout innings only allowing three hits and a walk while striking out seven Angels .
Casey Fien gave up three hits in his inning of work, but didn’t allow a run. The only hit Perkins gave up in his inning was the solo homer.
The Twins won which was needed, but, of course, everyone else in the Wild Card chase also won, other than the Angels, obviously. The Twins and Angels are now tied at 2.5 games behind the Houston Astros.
Minnesota is off on Monday. The Twins next play on Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians with first pitch set for 7:10 from Target Field.
