Minnesota Twins call up hot top prospect Max Kepler
The Chattanooga Lookouts won the Southern League championship on Monday, but the Minnesota Twins also were big winners. The Twins called up hot prospect Max Kepler after the game.
Kepler played in 112 games with the Lookouts and hit .322/.416/.531 with nine home runs and 71 RBI. Kepler also contributed to his Southern League MVP season with 32 doubles and 13 triples in the 2015 campaign.
Kepler will just add to the list of top prospects joining the Twins from Double-A this season. Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton, of course, made the leap from the Tennessee farm club to the big leagues earlier this season.

The Germany native is 22-years-old and played a good chunk of his games in the outfield this season with the Lookouts. Kepler started 63 games in the outfield and showed some flexibility by starting 36 games at first. Kepler has played all three outfield positions and first base throughout all of his minor league stops.
Despite only being 22, Kepler has been a part of the Twins organization for a long time. Kepler’s first season in the Twins system was in 2010 as a 17-year-old in the Gulf Coast League in rookie ball.
It is widely believed that Kepler would have been in the initial wave of September call ups if Chattanooga wasn’t in the middle of the championship drive. The fact that the Twins announced Kepler’s promotion virtually immediately after the Lookouts won the Southern League championship is pretty good proof of the Twins wanting him up at the major leagues for a while.
Kepler will now try to help the Twins in the last two weeks and sneak into the second Wild Card spot.
